EUDR: Generate a Due Diligence Statement (DDS)

Learn how to finalize your compliance process by generating, drafting, and submitting a Due Diligence Statement to Traces.

Updated over a month ago

How to Generate a DDS

To begin, navigate to the Inbound Tab. You will find the options for generation located within the New DDS column.

Identify Ready Products

To streamline your workflow, use the status filter to select Allowed. This will display all products that have cleared every compliance check and are ready for a DDS. When a product is ready, a Generate button will appear in the DDS column.

Understand "Blocked" or "Waiting" Statuses

If the Generate button is not visible, it will be replaced by one of the following labels:

Waiting for Origins

This means your supplier has not yet provided origin data, or they have "rejected" the request because the product is exempt (e.g., they are a micro/small undertaking, use 100% recycled material, or the product composition, like synthetic rubber, falls outside the legislation).

Origin status is rejected

Origin information is missing

Blocked

Hover over this label to see the specific reason. Common blockers include:

Deforestation Check Required

The check needs to be manually requested (if automation is disabled).

Non-negligible Deforestation Check

The deforestation assessment result shows a risk that must be addressed.

Non-negligible Legality Score

The legality assessment score is below 50, preventing further progress. Launch risk mitigation measures to improve the score of the producer.

Drafting and Submitting DDS

Once you click Generate a window will pop up where you need to enter required details. All mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*).

If you have previously created product groups, you can select the relevant one to automatically prefill the entity information.

💡If you’re unsure how to create or manage product groups, please refer to this article for detailed guidance.

You may also enter additional reference information, such as the country of activity, a purchase order number, a shipment number, or any other reference. This helps you allocate the DDS to a specific batch, if applicable.

Under Product & Origins, you must provide the product weight in kilograms in order to submit the DDS. In addition, if your product falls under specific HS codes that require a supplementary unit, this information must also be completed.

Click Save DDS to generate a draft of your DDS. Clicking on the DDS again will allow you to access and review it. Please verify that all entered information is correct, and once confirmed, click Submit DDS.

After submission, the DDS reference number will be displayed. By clicking on it, you will also see that the EU reference number, verification number, and date have been populated. These fields are completed once Traces has accepted the information you provided, confirming the successful creation of the DDS.
