Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

This article provides an overview of Multi-Factor Authentication on the Prewave platform.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Multi-Factor Authentication feature is enabled at the organisational level, not at the user level. When the feature is enabled, all users within the organization will be required to configure Multi-Factor Authentication the next time they log into the Prewave platform. Also, once enabled, it cannot be disabled.

Requirements

The following requirements must be met to enable and use Multi-Factor Authentication.

  • To enable the feature, the user must be assigned the User Manager role to access the organization's account security settings.

Navigating to Security Settings

  • Old User Interface

Click your avatar in the upper-right corner, then navigate to Administration.

  • New User Interface

Select Settings at the bottom left of the screen and then Admin Settings.

Process to enable MFA

Select Security from the left navigation bar, and click Enable for Organisation

Click Enable for Organisation again in the pop-up message. The request to confirm twice is to mitigate the chances of accidentally enabling the feature, as it cannot be disabled.

The Multi-Factor Authentication status for Organisation will now be Enabled for Organisation.

The next time a user from the same organisation logs into the Prewave platform, they will be required to use MFA via a code sent to their registered email address.

Key Takeaways: Simple, Secure, Company-Wide

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on Prewave adds an extra layer of login security for your whole organization.

Once enabled, it applies to all users - making sure that everyone signs in using both their password and the code sent to their registered email address, which helps protect your account from unauthorized access. Just keep in mind: it can only be turned on by a User Manager, and once it’s on, it stays on.
